Obituary
Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family, at her home in Point La Haye, St. Mary’s Bay, on July 17, 2024, Catherine Cahill (nee Yetman), aged 96 years.
Predeceased by her husband John Cahill (October 6th ,2014), parents James & Ellen Yetman, parents-in-law Francis & Elizabeth Cahill; sisters: Marie (Bill) Wonders, Mary (Bill) Rogers, Josephine (Vince) Power, Theresa (John) Ford, Violet (Alec) Byrne and Madeline (Michael) Cahill; brothers: Willie (Rita) Yetman, Bernard (Marg) Yetman, John (Hilda) Yetman and Jimmy Yetman and all other deceased members of the Yetman and Cahill families.
Leaving to mourn her only son Tony (Linda) Cahill; grandchildren: Ashley (Russell), Jennifer (Shane) and Jessica, precious great-grandchildren Alana and Owen, sister Mercedes (Kevin d.) Critch, brother Anthony Yetman (Mary), special sisters-in-law and really good friends Anita (Pad d.) Cahill and Marg (Hilary) Gibbons, brother-in-law Lawrence (Betty d.) Butler and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, including her furry friend Bella, who will miss her dearly.
A special thank you is extended to all her homecare workers over the past several years, especially her daughter-in-law Linda and niece Paula and to Best of Care Ltd. for all your care and support. A heartfelt thank you to Nurses Cheryl Goulding and Jaclyn O’Reilly for all their home visits and for being only just a phone call away when needed. The family would also like to thank all her nieces from the Cahill and Critch families, especially Patsy Dillion for spending countless nights with Catherine; to special friend Mercedes Nichols for helping out during Catherine’s final days; to Todd and staff at St. Mary’s Pharmacy, to the staff of NL Health Ambulance Service and former Gibbons’ Ambulance Service and to Gibbons’ funeral home, for all their care and support.
Resting at Gibbons’ Funeral Home, St. Mary’s at a time to be announced, to be followed by Mass of Christian Burial, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, St. Mary’s.
