LENAHAN-BRIGGS, Janet (nee Barclay)
June 29, 1931 to February 18, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janet Lenahan-Briggs. Janet’s memory will be forever cherished by her family: Janet’s daughter, Diane (Don Horner) and children Jenny (Terrell Plotzki) and children Irene, Tilda and Dorothy; Susan (Ryan Hallman) and children Avery and Jack; and, Andrew (Zoe Cullinane); Janet’s son, Don (Jane Lavin) and children Micah (Paul Mercer) and children Oscar and Johnny; and Shawn-Elise; and Janet’s daughter, Elizabeth (Scott Rehmann).
She was predeceased by her parents John George Barclay and Gertrude (nee Watson) Barclay, her sister Gladys Dove and beloved husband Robert Joseph Lenahan, sisters-in-law Ruth (Svend Tweed), Marie (Sam Sibbald), Helen and brothers-in-law Bill (Ruth) and Paul (Mary); and later spouse, Harry Briggs.
Janet passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the Burloak Long Term Care Centre in Burlington, Ontario where she had received loving care. She was born in Owen Sound, Ontario in 1931 and grew up there. Later she married and moved to Oakville, Ontario where Janet and Bob raised their family. Her family remembers her passion for the Blue Jays and the Leafs. In addition, many hours were spent gardening, knitting, crocheting and playing the piano.
One of the greatest joys of Janet’s life was time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Simply put she adored them.
Janet was funny with a twinkle in her eye. She was a kind and gracious lady.
While her family is so grateful for the many years we were able to spend with her, we are also
thankful that our dear Mom and Gramma is now past all earthly pain.
Mom, you leave a legacy of love and kindness for all who were fortunate enough to have had
you in their lives. You will always be loved and remembered.
