Black, Ruth
G. – Age 88, of Amherstpassed away
courageously and peacefully on Friday July 12, 2024 at Gables Lodge,
Amherst .
Born in Advocate Harbour, she was the
daughter of the late Clayton and Hallie ( Clark )
Morris.
Ruth devoted her life to her husband
Carmen and her children with a strong work ethic, care and the
determination to provide for her family. She cherished a good
friendship with many and continued to do so until the
end.
She began work at the Fort Cumberland
Hotel in its «hayday». Later in life she worked at
Gallant’s Dairy Bar and cleaned at various offices in town
as well as a busy Avon Representative for many years.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda,
Advocate Harbour ; a son Jeff (Krista), Warren, grandchildren Josh
(Truro) and Emma (Amherst), sister Wanda Webster, Advocate
Harbour and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband,
Carmen (1980), sisters Stella Corbin and Sylvia Clarke, brothers
Wilfred, Murray, Calvin, Glenford.
Ruth’s family would like to
express great appreciation to the staff of Gables Lodge for their
care, kindness, friendships and love she received especially in her
last few days. Thank You.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the
Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church
St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where visitation will be held
Saturday, July 20th, 2024 from 2 PM to 4 PM. Burial will follow in the
Amherst Cemetery and all are welcome.
Donations in Ruth’s memory may be made
to the Alzheimer Society, Canadian Cancer Society or the Diabetic
Association.
