It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce our beloved Sonny, Colton “Colty” John Evan Francis Cardinal has made his journey to the spirit world on July 4, 2024. Colton fought with all he had to live as he deeply treasured his family and friends. He was born on December 22, 1989 and a proud member of the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation. He is survived by his dearly beloved mother, Jennifer Cardinal, and cherished children, son Tyrese (late mother Mariah Cardinal) and daughter Ava (mother Nadine Moosomim); his loving siblings Jenna, Nakota (Kota) & Lane; nieces Kylee (Mugga) & Piper; his Papa Phillip; Uncle Reg & Auntie Rebecca, Auntie Tina (Uncle Roger) & Uncle Tim (Auntie Candace); He is also survived by his cousins whom he took as his siblings, Joshua (Eska), Julia (Jules), Josiah (Jo), Iktome (Toomi), Payton (BB Pay), Nitanis (Lily), Cipenuk (Gee) & Eliza (Eli); He is also survived by his father, Jason Saulteaux & numerous relatives & friends. He is predeceased by his grandmother (momma) Doris Cardinal, grandfather Marvin and Grandmother Ivy Saulteaux and many other cherished grammas, grandpas, aunties, uncles, cousins and other relatives & friends. Our family invites you to come pray with us as we send him on his journey in this celebration of his life.
A viewing will be offered in Edmonton at Connelly & McKinley Downtown Funeral Home 10011 114 Street NW, on Monday July 8, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and wake will begin at 4:00 p.m. at the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation (old school), until the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, July 9th at 11: 00 a.m. with burial and feast to follow.
