Obituary of Nathan Tyler Murray
It is with shock and dismay that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Nathan Tyler Murray on June 6, 2024.
Born in Ontario on December 15, 1990, Nathan was a unique and talented young man who lived life on his own terms, and after high school, moved to join his father Dennis and brother Tavis in B.C.
Despite the challenges he faced, Nathan worked hard and found his true calling as a Seafarer on the Pacific, living peacefully off the rugged shores of Salt Spring Island, with his trusty sea dogs, ‘Bella’ and the late and forever loved ‘Scurvy’.
Nathan was known and admired for his adventurous spirit, creativity and absolute generosity. He will be deeply missed by his countless shipmates, and friends.
At home, Nathan leaves behind his mother, Leanne Purdon, his sister Anna Purdon and her children Ashton and Michael, his Nana and Papa, Darlene and Dan McNicol, his Uncle Adam (Amber) McNicol, his Aunt Christine, cousin Nick and recently deceased cousin “Ivy” Sarah McNicol and Uncle John Boucher.
Nathan lived a life as free and expansive as the ocean he called home and he finally found peace and happiness while deep sea fishing off the coast of Alaska.

A celebration of the lives Nathan Murray and ‘Ivy’ Sarah McNicol will be held on Saturday July 6, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Snow Road Snowmobile Club, 1106 Gemmills Road, Snow Road, ON.
