It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we regretfully announce the passing of our dear Dad, James (Jim) Rex Pike, aged 80. Dad had a lifelong love of anything with an engine and was known in eastern Newfoundland as the “transmission specialist.” He passed away on Sunday, June 30th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He will be greatly missed by his daughters: Carolyn (Darren), Rachelle (Ray), and Robyn (David) and their mother, Florence Button. His grandchildren: Peter (Arielle), Katie (Jacob), Robert, Luke, Ava, and Keira. His siblings: Carol (Max), Donna (Bill), Dan (Glenda), and Juanita (Gerry). Special friend Greta and her family. His nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews.
Our Dad was predeceased by his parents, Jordan and Elizabeth Pike; his brother, Frank; sister-in-law, Bernice; and his son-in-law, Bob Porter.
From a young age, Dad had a passion for mechanics which eventually became his lifelong career. He was a well-known business owner and manager. Dad loved muscle cars, hunting trips, and solving sudoku puzzles. He enjoyed being on the Labrador, watching NASCAR races, and listening to VOWR.
At Dad’s request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the TCP Health Foundation, Palliative Care Unit, 6th Floor, Carbonear General Hospital.
