DE DECKER, Bonnie Mae (Allen) –
With great sadness, the family of Bonnie De Decker wishes to announce her peaceful passing at Sakura House on June 5, 2024, in her 79th year after a year-long battle with cancer. Bonnie will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She will be dearly missed by Andre her husband of 55 wonderful years. A loving mother to Katherine (Mitchell Smith) of Caledon East, Laura (Stefan Rose) of Dorchester, NB, and Joanna (Brian Cuz) of London, Bonnie was the devoted and proud grandmother to Levi, Naomi, Quasar, Nathanael, Emelia, and Sophie, and a cherished sister to Ruth (Tony) Stauttener, Goderich; and Dianne (Jim) Brickwell, Fairmont, BC. Bonnie is fondly remembered by her in-laws Karl & Sonia De Decker, Tillsonburg; Ed & Carol De Decker, Tillsonburg; Louis & Joyce De Decker, Mitchell; and by her dear Uncle Jim & Aunt Kate Keys, Varna. Left to mourn is Bonnie’s life-long friend Judy White, London.
Bonnie is predeceased by her parents Sybil (Keys) and Russell Allen and stepmother Louise, her son Stephen De Decker, and sister and brothers-in-law, Betty & Bob Allan, Roger & Angela De Decker, Raymond Mahood, and Rainford Jackson.
After graduating from the University of Guelph in 1967, Bonnie taught Family studies at Eastdale Secondary School, Welland, for two years, at the OSCVI in Owen Sound for 4 years, and as a supply teacher in Oxford County for 17 years. Bonnie was an active member of the Tillsonburg Right to Life, a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Women’s League and a dedicated member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church.
Friends, neighbours, and relatives are invited to attend public visitation in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, on Friday, June 7th, between 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. C.W.L. Prayers will be held on Friday at 4:00 p.m. Public Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 8th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 51 Venison Street West, Tillsonburg , by Rev. Fr. Seejo John. Interment in the Tillsonburg Cemetery. Following interment, funeral attendees are invited to attend a C.W.L.-prepared luncheon in the St. Mary’s Church basement hall. Everyone who knew Bonnie is invited to share favourite memories, upload photos, send flowers, express personal condolences, or contribute memorial donations to St. Mary’s RC Church, Tillsonburg Right to Life, Helping Hand Foodbank, or to VON Oxford (for Sakura House Hospice).
