It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Julius Biegler on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the age of 94. Julius is survived by his wife Barbara (nee Sosnitza); his children Cornelia, Robert, Werner (Kelly), Chris (Leah Lawrence), Lawrence and Roland; his grandchildren Connor and Brett, Noah and Zach, Kio and Zaia; his brother Artur (Marlene); as well as nieces and nephews Mark, Lisa Anne and Richard. Julius is predeceased by parents Otto and Euphemia (nee Marbach) and daughter-in-law Leah Biegler. His passing occurred on what would have been Leah’s 58th birthday.
Julius was born on August 26, 1929 in the German settlement of Selz, outside of Odessa, Ukraine. Julius – affectionately called Opi by his family – fled the chaos and destruction of the Eastern Front with his parents and brother in 1943 when he was only 14. After stops in different German cities, Opi eventually arrived in Regina in 1954 where he and Barbara (lovingly called Omi) were married in 1958. It was in Regina where Julius and Barbara started their family, building their own home on Lakeview Avenue. An avid electrician and master of all things mechanical, Opi worked at Inland Cement in Regina for 36 years, retiring in 1991. Julius also owned and operated the family company Biegler Electric, frequently taking his sons along for work calls. Opi was a regular parishioner of Christ the King Church, a proud supporter of the University of Regina Men’s Basketball Team, a longtime member of the Regina German Club and was known for his love of BMW cars, owning many over the course of his life.
The family would like to thank the Pasqua Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit,
for the excellent care Julius received.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Roman Catholic Parish (3239 Garnet St, Regina, SK) on Friday, June 7 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at Riverside Memorial Park.
