Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mildred Levine Spurrell (nee Wicks) of Wareham, Bonavista Bay, NL.
Mildred was 86 years old and died in St. John’s on May 24, 2024. At the time of her death she was residing at Lanes Retirement Home, Botwood.
Mildred was born on August 10, 1937 to Cator and Mary Wicks of Wareham. She married Henry (Harry) Spurrell and raised five children: Glenda, Gary, Todd, Bruce and Bobbi. Mildred spent her entire life as a devout Christian and supporter of her church. She is survived by her husband Henry, children: Todd (Dawn), Bruce (Nancy) and Bobbi (Justin), grandchildren: Michael (Nicole), Shelby, Nicholas, Robbie, Lily, Eric and Annie, siblings: Jack (Florence) and Vera (Jack).
She is predeceased in death by children: Glenda (Steve) and Gary, parents: Cator and Mary Wicks, siblings Annie (Gideon), Edith (Jim) and Gertrude (Bill).
Visitation will take place at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Wareham on Monday, May 27, 2024 from 2 – 4 p.m. (Family) & 7 – 9 p.m. (Public); Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 10 a.m. – 12 noon, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. & 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Family kindly request that visitation on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 12 noon – 1:15 p.m. be private for immediate family only.
Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Maxine Abbott officiating. Interment to follow at St. John the Baptist Anglican Cemetery, Wareham.
As an expression of sympathy flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in Mildred’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society www.cancer.ca
