Eric R. Adams Obituary
It is with great sadness, Eric Adams, age 85, passed away peacefully at Spruce Lodge in Stratford, on Saturday, May 4, 2024.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, son of the late James and Dorothy Adams. Beloved husband of Gillian Adams (nee Rodwell) for 56 years. Loved father of Fiona Hannam (David) and Tim Adams. Treasured Grampy to Mollie.
After graduating from the University of Edinburgh, Eric moved to Toronto in 1964, where he met Gillian, and they married in 1967. In 1968 they moved to Ottawa, where Eric worked as a Senior Economist for the House of Commons, Library of Parliament and raised their family, before moving to Stratford in 2000. Here they owned and ran Dunedin House Bed and Breakfast for 20 years.
Eric was well known for his dedication to making a difference, and his legacy of service and generosity will live on through the causes he championed and supported within the community. A Rotarian for 40 years with perfect attendance including terms as President in both Ottawa and Tavistock. Holding many memberships and sitting on various boards throughout his life, including The Easter Seals Society, E.S.U., The Commonwealth Society, Perth County Historical Foundation, The Stratford Art Gallery, Stratford Perth Museum, St John’s Ambulance, Probus Club of Stratford, Stratford Friends of the Festival, Chair of the Archives Committee and the 78th Fraser Highlanders. Eric was an avid steam train enthusiast, gardener and loved to entertain.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, 41 Mornington Street, Stratford on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 2:00 pm.
