Evelyn Harwood – 75, Truro, passed away peacefully
on Monday, May 6, 2024, at The Mira Long-Term Care Centre, Truro. Born
in Stewiacke, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Dorothy
(Colpitts) Raye.
Evelyn was a gifted musician who played guitar and loved to
sing; she won a trip to Wheeling, West Virginia when she won a singing
contest. She worked at various Tim Hortons restaurants in Ontario, and
later in life, she met up with her friends twice a day at Tim Hortons
on Willow Street in Truro; her Tim Hortons friends were a really big
part of her life, meeting them at 7 am and 5 pm daily was her routine.
She will be remembered for her kindness and how she was always
thinking of others and willing to help.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Kathy Gratto (Lincoln);
son, Junior (Tina) Abbott; sisters, Marilyn, Frances, Marjorie,
Dianna, Donna, Rhoda; granddaughter, Beth Langille; many great
grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her
husband, Lorne; grandson, Jason Langille.
A special thank you is extended to the staff at The Mira for
all of their care.
Celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment
in Pine Grove Cemetery, East Stewiacke. If so desired, donations in
Evelyn’s memory to a charity of choice are
welcomed.
