Peacefully, on Monday, April 29, 2024 at the age of ninety. Beloved companion of Rose Gotteiner, and devoted husband of the late Eleanor (Litman) for fifty-eight years. Cherished father of Mark and Olivia Ntemgwa Rothpan, Sharon Rothpan, and the late Debra Rothpan. Treasured Zadie of Melanie and Jason Rickaby, Mitchell and Daniela Rothpan, Matthew Rothpan and Eléanor Coppin, AJ Rothpan, Jason Ntemgwa, and Jayda Ntemgwa Rothpan. Loving great-grandfather of Ethan and Jazmine Rickaby, and Emilia and Eliana Rothpan. Son of the late Sam and the late Zelda Rothpan. Brother and brother-in-law of the late Harvey Rothpan, Barbara Rothpan, the late Lila and the late Sam Maron. Michael will be fondly remembered by his former daughter in law Miriam Spector, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Special thanks to Marine, Muriel, Frank, Gabriel, Joseph, Daniel and the staff of Hotel Dieu for making his last days comfortable, and to Dr. Yin and Dr. Lubov for their guidance.
Cote St. Luc Softball Pitcher extraordinaire, Snowdon Y enthusiast, Montreal Alouette fan and much more. But his pride and joy was his family, and he loved when ALL his kids got together at his place to either celebrate an occasion or to just enjoy a Sunday brunch while they talked and he listened.
Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Thursday, May 2 at 1:00 p.m. Burial at the Beit Abraham Family Estates Section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O. Shiva at his and Rose’s home Thursday following burial until 4:00 p.m., and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., and Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of gifts or flowers, donations in Michael’s memory may be made to the Jewish General Hospital Foundation, (514) 340-8251 or click here.
