Janina Romanowska passed away peacefully on January 23, 2023 at Vancouver General Hospital, with her daughter by her side, after a short battle with an unexpected illness.
Janina is predeceased by her sister, Lucja, and brothers, Edward and Kazimierz. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Joanna (Adam), and brother, Marian.
Janina was born in Poland in 1950, and lived and travelled throughout Europe before immigrating to Canada in the 1980s. She settled in Vancouver to selflessly devote herself to her daughter, Joanna, bravely raising her alone as a single mother.
Janina was a lover of all animals and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially during the summer, when she would regularly ride her bicycle along the False Creek seawall. She also took great pleasure in cooking and baking, often creating new, healthy recipes, and regularly supplied her daughter and son-in-law with delicious jars of homemade soup and traditional Polish dishes.
A celebration of Janina’s life will be held for family and close friends in the near future.
