On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in his ninety-first year. Beloved and devoted husband of Leona Bly for sixty-four years. Loving father of Barbara Sternfeld, and Chuck Sternfeld. Proud Zaida of Bradley Schneider, Chloe and Andrew Murray, Hayley and Austin Auletta, and great-grandfather “Pappy” of Chase Parker Murray. Brother and brother-in-law of the late Sol and Doreen Sternfeld, brother-in-law of Sandy and Larry Shadowitz, and Beverly Bly. Son of the late Joseph and the late Anne Sternfeld, son-in-law of the late Max and the late Ida Bly. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Jewish General Hospital.
Hy was a kind and loving soul who always put others before himself. He was actively involved in community service for most of his life, and left a lasting impression on all those who were fortunate enough to meet him. He will be missed by his nieces, nephews, family, and many friends.
Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Friday, April 12 at 12:00 noon. Burial at the Young Israel of Chomedey Congregation Section, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Duvernay. Shiva at his home Sunday through Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. daily.
