(January 13, 1925 – March 22, 2024)
With heavy hearts, the family of Ona Marie Tremble, announces her passing on March 22, 2024, in her 100th year after a long and beautifully lived life.
Ona was the beloved wife of the late Edgar F. Tremble (1984) and much-loved mother to Susan Terry (Grant) and Crystal Tremble. Ona was the cherished grandma to Alanna Barr (Jonathan) and Sean Terry, sharing laughter, stories, wisdom and short bread cookies. Known affectionately as “GG,” she took immense pride in her Great-grandchildren Ryder Barr, Kinsley Barr, Aylah Barr, and Makayla Williams.
Ona was predeceased by her parents Clyde and Eva Platten and beloved sisters Muriel Gower and Verna Moore.
Ona was a cherished auntie. Her nieces and nephews, Norma Blyth, Les Moore, John Gower, Raph Moore, Lola Beare, Laura McHale, Patricia Whiting, and Lee Anne Wiatrzyk will forever miss her warm presence.
Born in Brock Township, but raised in Oshawa. Ona called Oshawa home for most of her life. She joined the workforce as bank teller during the 40’s and always loved to recall those career girl days. Post WW2, Ona married Edgar Tremble in 1950 and they would enjoy summers surrounded by family at Stephens Point campground. During the mid-60’s, Ona and Ed purchased a hobby farm near Raglan and embarked on farm life adventures. Mom enjoyed and was kept busy by all the citters from the small herd of cattle, horses, to ducks, chickens and our beloved Newfoundland dogs.
Ona enjoyed visiting and being part of the lives of her nieces and nephews from hosting family lunches to time at her niece’s home on Lake Dalrymple. She enjoyed travelling, especially winter escapes to Florida with her sister Verna. Ona kept active throughout her years – an avid golfer, bowler, baker and she loved a good game of scrabble.
Ona’s legacy of family, love, resilience, and kindness will live on in our hearts and memories and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In keeping with our mom’s wishes, a private family service will be held in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery, in Prince Albert, where Mom will be laid to rest with Dad, under the care of Low and Low Funeral Home in Port Perry, Ontario.
The family wishes to thank the care team at AgeCare Samac, Cullen Path, for their care, compassion and kindness.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Ona’s name to the Humane Society of Durham Region and the Jumpstart Program for young athletes, or a charity of your choice.
