Parcourez la nécrologie de Anastazija Markovic Dubic Wednesday January 25th 2023 résidant dans la province Ontario pour le détail des funérailles
Anastazija Markovic (Dubic) was born on January 15, 1935 in Samobor, Croatia to Barbara Husta and Franjo Dubic. She was the second youngest of nine children and a World War II survivor. Anastazija is pre-deceased by her beloved soul mate, Andy, and is the cherished mother to Vera, Barbara (Paul) and Dusan. Lovingly remembered Nana to Sasha, Zachary (Jess) and Rachel as well as the Great-Nana to Aubree and Blake.
Her passion for travel and adventure took her from Croatia to Salzburg, Austria before finally immigrating to Toronto in 1959. One of her proudest moments was earning her Canadian citizenship and she held that honour to the highest degree, always expressing sincere gratitude for the life Canada enabled her to have. She carried her citizenship card with her always.
Later on, a move to a rural Port Perry property with magnificent views would be her forever home for the next 55 years.
In 1965, Anastazija started her employment at Chrysler Canada, first as a sewing machine operator and then as an Inspector. Everything she achieved was through hard work and perseverance. Upon retirement, Anastazija and Andy became annual snowbirds and enjoyed their second home in Venice, Florida where they walked the beautiful beaches every winter for over 25 years.
Anastazija was multilingual; reading, writing and speaking Croatian, German and English. She was a gentle soul with a beautiful smile and a deep love for her family. A master cook who excelled at creating the most exceptional meals effortlessly and at a moments notice. She was extremely humble, being unable to accept compliments on her cooking though one taste of her cabbage rolls or potato salad and you could eat no other.
An extraordinary woman with great courage, intelligence, strength and integrity who saw beauty in everything in life and held the strong belief that all things have a purpose and a right to live. One of her greatest joys was feeding and watching the many generations of spectacular birds that flocked to her verandah year after year after year. She also dearly loved her companion cats who enjoyed watching the birds with her. All creatures, great or small, had value and were respected. Her property was home to a vast vegetable garden and numerous flower gardens which she tended to and shared with family. She loved dancing, music, shopping, travel and jewelry. Her love of wine came naturally as her family had a large vineyard in Croatia and she enjoyed sampling wines from around the world.
Anastazija was truly amazing and inspiring to all who knew her. Her beautiful smile and embrace (always given when greeting or leaving someone) were full of love and she always brought out the best in people around her.
On January 25, 2023, Anastazija decided to end her battle with cancer and her family lost their guiding light. A life well-lived, a tribute honouring this remarkable woman will be held a later date.
Until we meet again mom, we love and miss you more than words can say. Our world is forever changed. Thank you for everything.
