Obituary
It’s with great sadness the family of the late Madeline Goosney announce her passing on Saturday, February 17th, 2024, at the Palliative Care Unit of Western Memorial Hospital in Corner Brook in her 94th year surrounded by her family.
She will be forever missed by her loving daughter, Kay, cherished grandson, Paul (Felicia), her great grandchildren Skyler, Donte, Kegan, Ryker and Elena.
Also left to mourn are her siblings, Ludlow (Cookie) Laing, Claudine (Philip) Kaizer, Robert (Paul) Laing, sister-in-law Gladys Laing and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Wallace, mother and father Elizabeth and Freeman Laing, siblings Clifford Laing and Marion Laing, son-in-law Norman Moore, father and mother-in-law William (Mable) Goosney, brothers and sisters-in-law, William (Florence) Goosney, Joseph Goosney, Stedman (Julia) Goosney, Norman (Pansy) Goosney, Mable (William) Pittman, Hazel (Walter) Grzybowski.
Madeline was a very active member of her community. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary Deer Lake Branch 3, lifetime member of St. Michael’s and all Angels ACW. She was an avid card player and one of the original members of the Bridge group; she made many dear friends in her card clubs, church group, community involvement who will greatly miss her.
Her family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses from the palliative care unit for all their care and dedication. It is so appreciated.
The family will be receiving family and friends on Monday, February 19th, 2024, from the hours of 2:00-4:00 pm, and 7:00-9:00 pm, at Parsons Funeral Home, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024, from St. Michael’s and All Angels Anglican Church in Deer Lake, NL, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Canon Jeffrey Petten and Rev.Terry Coates officiating. With the interment to follow at the family plot at the Anglican Church cemetery in Birchy Head.
