Obituary of L. Caroline Gloin (nee Anderson)
Formerly of RR#4, St. Thomas, ON, passed away at Southbridge London on February 14, 2024, in her 89th year.
Born in St. Thomas, ON, February 27, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Warren and Gladys (née Copeland) Anderson.
Beloved wife of the late Peter J. Gloin (2001). Dearly loved mother of Martyn Gloin (Tammy) of Lucan, and the late Laura DeVrieze (Tim of London). Proud grandmother of Evan, Ryan, and Sara DeVrieze, Abigail, Carter, Marissa, and Aspen Gloin, and the late (infant) Aidan Gloin. Cherished sister of the late Jean Callowhill (late Cecil), and the late Beverly Anderson. Another brother, Byron Anderson died as an infant. Sister-in-law of Shirley Gloin of St. Thomas and the late Raymond Gloin, late Lewis and late Jean Gloin. Also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Caroline received her teaching certificate from the London Teachers College in 1955, and taught Grades One and Two at Southwold, Yarmouth, and Elgin Court Public schools from 1955 to 1960.
Caroline was a long-time member of the St. Thomas Curling Club. She was a sincerely devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington Street, St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A service to celebrate Caroline’s life will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 55 Hincks St., St. Thomas on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception in the Rodney Hall of the church. Interment Union Cemetery. Memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
