Obituary
Weeks, Marjory – 103, of Barrington Passage, With sadness we announce the passing of our remarkable Mum on February 12, 2024 at Roseway Manor, Shelburne. She was the only daughter born to Marion and George Wakerly in London, England, on January 13, 1921. Mum died peacefully with grace, with her family around her. Mum lived a long 103 years of a very full life. Originally from London, England and after surviving WWII Blitz, she and our dad, Arthur Weeks, and son, Eric emigrated to Canada and in 1950 moved to Barrington Passage where they made a home and a new life. Mum worked as the Registrar of Deeds and Probate in Barrington for 24 yrs. Until she retired. Then became the first female Justice of the Peace in this area. She loved performing the many wedding ceremonies. Mum loved her family whole-heartedly and was so proud of each and every one. Mum will really be missed by us all. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Arthur Weeks; and brother, Roy Wakerly. Marjory is survived by her children, Eric (Karen) Weeks, Orleans, ON; Jane (Darryl) Swaine, Clyde River; and Peter (Cynthia) Weeks, South Side; grandchildren, Matthew Weeks, Christopher Weeks, both of Orleans, ON; Jillian Swaine, LaHave; Kate Dixon, Eel Bay; Laura Swaine, Halifax; George Weeks, Gooselake; Corinne d’Eon, Argyle; and Dana Weeks, Doctor’s Cove; 14 great-grandchildren, which she was so proud of; also extended family members in England. We would like to thank the fantastic, caring, professional staff at Roseway Manor for making her last days comfortable. Also thanks to Dr. Riley for his care and Dr. Yee for his as well to Mum over the years. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 18, at 2:00 pm from the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington. There will be no visitation. Family flowers only please. Donation may be made to the Barrington Library, Cape Sable Island Historical Society, the Salvation Army, Barrington Passage, as Mum was involved with and loved each of these groups.
