February 8 2024 résidant dans la province Saskatchewan pour le détail des funérailles.

Richard Wasserle was born on October 4, 1925, in Nitrianske Pravno, Czechoslovakia, (now Slovakia) and passed away in Regina, Saskatchewan on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the age of 98 years.
He is survived and will be remembered by his loving, and to his last day caring wife of 26 years, Eva, and his extended family in Canada, Germany, and Slovakia.
At the age of 14, Richard attended a German carpentry school in Bratislava, where he learned his skills. Because of his German nationality, he was drafted to serve in World War 2, despite only being 17 years old. After the war ended, Richard, his mother, and his sister were forced to leave Czechoslovakia and moved to Germany. Thanks to his uncle Rudolf Richter who sponsored them, they were then able to move to Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada in September of 1950. Richard worked at several cabinet-making shops in Regina, as well as 25 years for the Catholic School Board until his retirement in 1990. With the help of Uncle Rudolf, Richard was able to build the house he lived in until God called him to his Kingdom.
Richard was passionate about his membership of the Knights of Columbus. Over a long and productive period, he achieved 3rd and 4th degrees within the order. He held many offices and served two terms as District Deputy under State Deputy, Father John M. Riffel. On several occasions, the Knights honored him for his dedication and service to order.
Among his interests was a passion for dancing. Because of his love for dancing, he became a familiar figure to many fellow dancers, especially to those young and beautiful ladies at the German and Austrian clubs. When you see the dancing Northern Lights, think of Richard. He may not be dancing with a star, but he will surely be dancing among the stars.
The love for travel was also in his blood. With his Knight Brothers, he traveled all throughout Canada. While he was still single, he made several trips to Germany, Hungary, and to his homeland in Slovakia. After retirement, his love for travel grew even bigger. He and Eva enjoyed living six months in Canada and six months in Slovakia. During that time, they visited many European countries, including the major Marian shrines, such as Lourdes, Fatima, Montserrat, Czestochowa, Sastin, and many more. The most memorable was their trip to The Holy Land. Besides travel, Richard enjoyed tending to his flowers, photography, reading, music, and stamp and coin collecting.
A Funeral Service will be held at Holy Cross Parish, 315 Douglas Ave. East, Regina, on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 1:00 pm. With interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
