Lynda spent most of her adult life working for the Bank of Montreal in Whitecourt, where she became the Branch Manager. She also worked at the ATB in Athabasca and Boyle. Lynda worked several years at a group home, where she cared for and fell in love with two ladies with mental and physical disabilities. It was very demanding and difficult at times, but her nurturing and compassionate nature made her the perfect person to care for them. She found great joy, satisfaction and gratification working with them.
Lynda had the amazing ability to surround you in love and make you feel special. She loved deeply and with her whole heart and soul. She was always very affectionate, giving everyone big hugs and kisses. Lynda welcomed anyone including strangers with open arms. She was always there to listen and lend a hand.
Lynda was very well known for her long nails. It was amazing how she learned to adapt and felt lost without her long-painted nails.
Lynda really in enjoyed the outdoors and loved camping. She liked to mow the grass on their acreage on the lawn tractor. She had a huge soft spot for animals, especially dogs and more recently, horses.
She was an avid reader, who found great joy in reading. Lynda loved to read almost any novel she got her hands on. She could read through a stack of books in no time! She wasn’t much for watching TV. Although she loved “New Amsterdam.” She did enjoy a good movie when she had the chance to watch one.
Lynda was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, Nana, Aunt and friend. She cherished every minute spent with those she loved. Lynda was such a special person, so kind, caring, intuitive, observant, thoughtful, giving, smart; always wanting to help. For anyone that knew her, understood that they were so fortunate to have her in their life and that she was one of a kind!
She could be very stubborn, especially when it came to technology. She refused to learn how to text. She would say, “David I don’t text!” She always wanted to hear your voice because it just wasn’t the same. She loved to receive phone calls from family and friends. It would make her day, especially if the calls were few and far between. She was always there to listen and support you.
Lynda was the easiest person that I know to make or buy gifts for. She appreciated and loved everything you gave her. It meant so much to her that you thought of her. She was very easy to please and was always thrilled with your gesture.
Our family will miss her more than words can express. We already feel the huge hole left behind that can only be felt when we lose someone so very special. Hopefully everyone that cared for her can find comfort in the wonderful memories that we shared with her.
Lynda was cremated and we will have a Celebration of her life in the Spring. Instead of flowers please donate to the “Cross Cancer Institute.”
