It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce Harvey’s passing on Thursday, January 18, 2024. Son of the late Dave and the late Yetta. Beloved father of Karen, and Lori-Ann; and father-in-law of Mark. Special grandpa of Halley, Marcy and Reuben. Loving brother of Elaine, godfather of Jason, and special love of Anna. He will be greatly missed by his many dear cousins, friends and colleagues in Montreal and around the globe. We are forever indebted to the caring staff on Kastner 6 at Jewish Eldercare for how they took care of our Dad and made him feel like he had a second family. Thank you to Digna, Jeff, Myrna, and Elena for their exceptional care and compassion. Special thanks to doctors Assouline and Brailovski at the Jewish General Hospital. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Sunday, January 21 at 3:00 p.m. Burial at the Baron de Hirsch Community Foundation Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva private at Lori-Ann’s home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. ending Thursday evening. Shiva continuing for Karen in Toronto at 198 Roslin Ave., Wednesday and Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the “Harvey Gilman Memorial Fund” c/o the Donald Berman Jewish Hospital of Hope Eldercare Foundation, (514) 738-4500, ext. 2124.
