It is with a heavy heart that the family of Arnold Sheldon Herer announce his sudden and unexpected passing on January 16,2024 in Belgium. Devoted husband of Charline. Beloved father of Nell. Treasured and caring son of Eleanor Herer and the late Moe. Twin baby brother and brother-in-law of Elaine (Stephen Holzapfel) and protective big brother to Clifford (Sharon Sidel). Cherished uncle of Matthew Holzapfel (Tanya), Miles Herer (Franki), Michelle Holzapfel (Aaron) and Brandon Herer. Proud great uncle of Senna Herer and Ari Holzapfel. Step- father to Francois Sonnet (Stephanie). Loving Grandpa Pop to Charlie and Joanna.
Arnold lived life without fear, regret, or complaint. He was incredibly intelligent, humble, thoughtful, generous, gentle, and easily the most hospitable person we have ever known. Arnold, we all looked up to you both literally and figuratively. Passovers will never be the same without your original rendition of Echad Mi Yodea.
There will be a memorial service for Arnold in Belgium. Shiva will take place in Montreal at Clifford’s house on Saturday afternoon and evening (January 27th ) and Sunday from 11 am to 9 pm.
