July 12, 1948 – January 7, 2023
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Henri Aube at the St. Catherine’s General Hospital due to complications from pneumonia. He is survived by his wife Margaret, son Edmond, daughter-in-law Gillian, and grandsons Henri and Elliot. Henri was a dedicated and caring family man and remained close with his siblings and best friends. A pilar of family gatherings Henri cared deeply for his siblings and made staying connected a priority. Generous of time to family and friends, Henri was always willing to offer advice or help with a project. He took a genuine interest in nieces and nephews lives and successes, and was at his best when talking about and spending time with his grandsons.
Henri lived a brilliant and full life. He was a successful entrepreneur, business man, and later in his career SAP trainer. A pick me up and dust me off kind of guy, little could phase him. He demonstrated perseverance and didn’t let the struggles of entrepreneurship stop him from embarking on his next venture. One of the most knowledgeable people you have ever met; well versed in all fields he took interest in, there was no area that Henri wasn’t willing to work at and excel in.
His family and hobbies brought the most fulfillment to his life. He loved to cook, especially on the BBQ, spending hours around the smoker preparing meat that was “darn near good enough to eat.” Henri was a master tinkerer and loved to take apart and repair all manner of tech and gadgets. If there was a tool or gadget you needed, you could guarantee Henri had it and would be happy to show you how to use it, and if he didn’t have it would find the best deal on eBay.
Adventurous, driven, curious, passionate, a risk taker, and problem solver; Henri was the perfect fit for a captain. He loved boating. He loved everything about it. From brightwork to bilge-work and everything in between Henri dedicated almost 50 years of his life to maximizing his time on the water. Starting out with houseboats, moving on to his beloved Benchmark, and realising his boating dreams on the Loose Goose; his meticulous nature had his boats looking cover ready and his adventures all within reach. Along with his wife and first-mate Margaret they were able to travel throughout the Great Lakes, Trent-Severn waterway, Eastern seaboard of the US, and all the way to the Bahamas. His energy and exceptional talent, as well as his eagerness to share endeared him to all the wonderful folks he met along the way.
