It is with the utmost sadness that we share of the passing of Marian Reeve of Branchton, Ontario. Marian passed in the early morning of Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the age of 62 years young, after a very short battle with cancer. Marian passed peacefully, surrounded by family at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital. The tremendous number of visitors that rushed to her side the night prior to her passing was truly remarkable. All of the visitors, phone calls, video chats and well wishes sent from afar were absolutely indicative of the love everyone shared for Marian.
Being one of ten children, Marian was born in Penetanguishene, Ontario on August 20, 1961, to Florence (nee Gennoe) and Andrew Townes. Marian was a devoted wife to Don, and an amazing mother to Kathleen (Justin), Melanie (Ferdinand), and Matthew (Rebecca). Marian was a dedicated grandmother to Rozlyn, Wyatt, Kaelan, Dean, Sawyer, Garrett, Jake, Bailey, and Wade. She also leaves behind more than 22 nieces and nephews, along with their respective spouses, and over 40 great nieces and nephews, as well as a large extended family. Marian was predeceased by her parents, beloved brother Ken Townes, loving brother-in-law John Kells, the most beautiful niece, Rikki-Lee Brock, and many more family members.
Marian was a strong-willed woman with a heart of gold, leaving an impact on all that crossed her path. She was a talented hairdresser and a passionate hairstyling teacher, collectively, for over 40 years. Marian had a passion for horses as a young woman, and an even bigger dedication as a mother and grandmother. She absolutely loved all of the camping trips, vacations, and excursions with her family, especially her sisters and sisters-in-law; she was always up for an adventure. Road trips weren’t complete without the windows down, hair blowing in the wind, blaring her favourite country music. Despite her small stature, Marian was surely a force to be reckoned with, fiercely independent, and so full of life. She was a shoulder to cry on, would help anyone at the drop of a hat, and even at the expense of herself, was hard pressed to say no.
Marian’s unexpected departure came as a tremendous shock and will be deeply felt by all that loved and knew her. Although her passing came quickly, her sense of humor remained until her last moments. The family sincerely appreciates the profound support during this challenging time.
Friends and family are welcome to attend Corbett Funeral Home (95 Dundas St N, Cambridge) for an informal gathering on Wednesday, January 17 from 6-9 pm and Thursday, January 18 from 10-12 pm with the interment at the Kirkwall Cemetery immediately following visitation at 12:30 pm on Thursday. A small reception will follow at the Kirkwall Church (1545 Kirkwall Road, Hamilton). All are welcome.
