After a courageous and valiant battle, William Anthony Withawick (Papa), 70 years, was called home
December 17, 2023 at 12:53 pm peacefully surrounded by family.
He leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 23 years Patricia Withawick, Father in law Lloyd Sinclair,
brothers Ron (Marianne) Withawick, Ralph (Clara) Everett, sisters Marie (Douglas) Robertson and Patsy
(Henry) Keddie. His children, Sonny (Carolyn) Withawick, Mandy (Kyle) Berens, Danielle Sinclair, Toni
Withawick, Dylan Sinclair and Cyril Boulanger who he recently connected with. Grandchildren, Sparrow,
Petra, Sunny Jr, Danny, Kylie, Charlie, Penelope, Edmund, Melanie, Jake, Draydon, Zayden, Ariana,
Caidence, Layton, Ava, Everly, Renelle, Malayah, Braer, Jax, Kyser, Monty, Stevie, Brayden, Merecedes,
Baylee, Noah, Hayden, Gabriel and Kean. His great granddaughter Elaina, his big baby and heart Deni
and special little love Amiya. Brother in law Jug (Jackie) Sinclair, sisters in law Myra Sinclair, Grace
(Leonard) Whiteway, Susie (Jerry) Whiteway and Alma (Marc) Bernier. His nephew Shawn (Rachel)
Withawick whom he lovingly called my boy. Numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends
William was born July 29, 1953 in Berens River. He was a commercial fisherman in his early years before
moving to Cranberry Portage to pursue logging. During his Cranberry Portage years, he attended
Paramedic training in Flin Flon where he volunteered his new skills to work in the area for 8 years while
continuing to log.. He moved to Grand Rapids in 1996 to log in the area until he moved back home to
Berens River in 1997 to work for Channel Area Loggers. He then moved into town to work for the rock
crushing operation for Meemeeweeseepi. It was then in May of 1998 that he met his future wife Pat. In
1999 he opened his garage Withawick Service and worked there until his illness didn’t allow him to. He
was dedicated to his work and providing for his family.
He was predeceased by his mother Nora Withawick Everette nee (Mitchell) on March 14, 2008, father
Tony Withawick in 1956, 6 siblings, Johnny Everett, George Withawick, Roy Everett, Annie Everett and
Beverly Everett who perished in a house fire in Berens River on New Year’s Eve 1970 and Norbert
Everett on November 26, 2021, Mother in law Alma Sinclair on September 8, 2014 brother in law
Bryden Sinclair on May 12, 2005, nephews Ronald Roy Ross Withawick on September 18, 2016, Waylon
Lavassuer on March 5, 2023, Dennis Sinclair on July 4, 2003 and Gerd Nabess on April 13, 2017.
Wake services will be held at the Eternal Grace Funeral home, 1111 Logan Avenue Tuesday December
19, 2023 at 7:00 pm and Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Berens River Wednesday December
20, 2023 at 7:00pm. Cremation will follow. Pall bearers are Arnold Sawanash, Ernest (Bundy) Green Jr,
Dylan Sinclair, Aaron Whiteway, Alistair Sinclair and Fabian (Peanut) McKay.
The family would like to thank everyone for all the prayers and well wishes. Today and always, may
loving memories bring us all peace, comfort and strength.
