It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mom, Irene Thompson. Mom passed peacefully surrounded by her family on December 14th, 2023 at Sunrise Senior Living in Aurora. Beloved wife of the late Jack Thompson, for almost 60 years. Loving mother to Beth (Simon), Lynda, Lisa (Dan) and stepmother to Geoff (Val). “Best Nana ever” to Robbie (Kristen), Dane (Brittany), Johnny (Heather), Carlye (Jake), Dylan, Erin (Terry), Steven and Ryan. Great Grandmother to Connor, Taylor, Landon, Thomas, Ava and Van. Dear sister to Margaret (Will), sister-in-law Margaret Thompson and the late Robert. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews in Canada and Northern Ireland. Irene was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She came to Canada in 1957 and shortly thereafter met Jack Thompson (2 days later). Mom was “mom” to so many of our school friends, gymnasts and her colleagues at the office. She was an amazing seamstress, knitter and crafter. She volunteered her time for the Winstonettes for many years. Mom loved a party, so, of course she was the social convenor at Swan Lake Retirement Village when they lived there.
During the past year, mom was strong and put on a brave face during difficult times but she always had her hair brushed and her lipstick on!
We are so proud of you mom and will miss you terribly.
A funeral will be held at Ogden’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 20th, 2023.

Visitation from 12:00 p.m.
Service at 1 p.m. followed by refreshments.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Irene’s memory to Princess Margaret Hospital.
