With broken hearts, we are sad to announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful Yvonne Elizabeth Davis, age 82, after many years of difficult health issues, on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at the Palliative Care Unit, Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Alder Point, on June 26, 1941, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (MacNeil) Buffett. She left school at a young age to care for her family. She then met the love of her life Hartland Davis. They went on to have a big family and she continued the care giving while also working outside the home. She was always such a hard and dedicated worker at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Alder Point Fisheries and National Sea where she made many new friends.
She enjoyed her many fishing trips and Sunday drives with her children. She liked bingo, watching her soaps, listening to music at both Indian Beach and the Florence Circle. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Left to mourn with heavy hearts are her children, John (Paula), Joan (Alvin), Darren (Bernadette) and Kevin (Joy), where she resided and received excellent care for many years, her son-in-law John; her nine grandchildren Joey, Vanessa, Jennifer, Krista, Kelly, Kerry, Holly, Jennifer and Kevin Jr; her 19 great-grandchildren; her siblings Barry, Cecil (Edie), Joan (Sandy Carey), Earl, Mary, Cameron (Doreen), Olive (Bob Audette), Sharon, Joanne (Greg Walker), Wayne and sister in law Dianna, many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her in-laws Carolyn (Mike MacNeil), Jerome (Kathleen) and Ann.
Besides her parents Yvonne was predeceased by her husband Hartland; daughters Theresa and baby Yvonne; brothers William Jr. and Bernie; in-laws Josephine, Francis, Allison, Wanda and Ernie; Mother and father-in-law Gerald and Mildred Davis; brothers-in-law Wayne and Arnold.
We would like to thank Dr. Paul Hickey who made many home visits, the VON, Home Care and Palliative Care who all went above and beyond. There are others just too many to mention.
There are not enough words to describe how special and loved Yvonne was. Yvonne was our special jewel and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral mass for Yvonne will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19, at St Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating.
