It is with incredible sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Brent McRae at the age of 51. He passed away peacefully in Lethbridge at Legacy Lodge on December 11, 2023.
He is survived by his parents Donald and Patricia McRae , his sister Tanya Law and his cherished nephew and niece, Tyler and Karlee Law all of Nanton, as well as his numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandparents on both sides.
Brent will be remembered for his mischievous smile, his quick witted replies, his willingness to volunteer, but most of all his huge heart. He was a kind hearted man who was always willing and able to hold a conversation with anyone in a room. His love for volunteering and giving back to his community was fostered by his 28 years as a member of the Stavely Elks #112 Lodge and his 20 plus years as a Nanton Booster.
Growing up he enjoyed playing hockey and baseball, but it was the game of golf that he loved the most. He truly enjoyed getting out and playing with his whole family, especially when he got to start bringing his niece and nephew (even when they were just babies in their car seats!). He spent many years working on the grounds crew of the Nanton Golf Club as well as helping build and then working on the grounds crew of Lakeside Greens in Chestermere. After a couple years of city living he was ready to return to the family ranch and he moved back there to work with his dad on the ranch. The last few years of his working career he happily spent at Lowe’s Feedlot.
A celebration of Brent’s life will be held at the Stavely Community Center on January 6th, 2024 at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Nanton Booster Club.
