The Bottoset family are profoundly saddened to share the news of the death of our beloved mother.
Silvana (fondly known as CheeChee) died on November 29, 2023 surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Fano, Italy she was the youngest of three.
On August 31, 1953 mom immigrated to Canada with her own mother landing at Pier 21, Halifax in Nova
Scotia.
From Halifax they boarded a train headed to Fort William/East End where they both settled with other
family members.
Despite not speaking English mom managed to secure employment what was known then as “Canada
Bread”.
It was in the East End that mom met our father, Dennis. Together they raised five children and multiple
grandchildren over 56 years of marriage.
Family life and friends were central to her life. Mom loved to gather, celebrate birthdays, anniversaries
and milestones. Cooking was one of her passions and there were always full bellies when we came
together. Her chicken, famous at family picnics, was always anticipated.
In her thirties mom was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She was tough and stubborn. She faced this
diagnosis with courage and determination to continue to live, work and better the lives of her family.
As time progressed so did the ravages of M.S. While she lost physical abilities, she maintained her quick
wit and sense of humour.
By her early sixties she required daily support until she could no longer manage at home. At the age of
69 she would see the next 18 years of her life in long term care.
While in long term care mom encompassed the staff as family and she came to love them as her own.
It was not uncommon to hear the staff call her by her nick name “CheeChee”.
She is survived by her brother Ennio Dellacecca (Erminia) and their children.
She is also survived by her children:

Dianne (Stewart, Kyle & Melissa & great grandson Brantley)
Kathy (Stefan, Lauren & Chris)
Dennis (Crystal)
Bruce (Bonnie, Brenden & Kaitlyn, Brysen & Abbey)
Silvana was predeceased by her parents, her husband Dennis, sister Luisa Zandri and grandson Shane
Rayner.
As per Silvana’s wishes there will be no service.
Mom loved family and friends to gather. There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023
between 1-3 pm at HarbourView Funeral Centre on 499 Cumberland Street.
If family and friends so desire donations on her behalf can be made to the charity of your choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
