Tammie Kathryn Dunnett passed away peacefully, 65 years young on November 29th, 2023, with her husband Tom by her side at Ross Memorial Hospital, after a too brief 5 month battle with cancer.
Born June 20th, 1958 to Jack and June Young, Tammie was the youngest of 4 girls. She will be deeply missed by her sisters, Debby, Dot, and Trudy.
Tammie met her love, Tom at a very young age of 12. Their story started with none other than a game of red rover at the local park. They became boyfriend and girlfriend during the first Miles for Millions walk in 1970. They could always be found spending time with their friends listening to music and sharing a good laugh and now many of those friendships have been lifelong. Tammie always loved the many large gatherings, card games, pool parties, Rexdale get togethers and epic New Year’s Eve parties.
Tammie and Tom went on to have an endless kind of love and were married on December 15th, 1979. Just a short year later they welcomed their son James into the world on December 13th 1980. James grew to be a wonderful Husband to Dianna, and Father of Tammie and Tom’s grandkids, Jayde and Kathryn.
Tammie will always be remembered as loving, kind, and possibly the most organized person you would ever meet. She had a wonderful 30 year career with Humber College where they enjoyed her skills immensely, along with her bright smile and welcoming personality.
Tammie loved making things beautiful. She could often be found working with Tom on home projects and was always thinking of what others around her would appreciate. This was something that always made her happy. In 2020, they retired to the town of Fenelon Falls in a home that welcomed so many friends and family. Tammie’s favourite part of the day was spending it with Tom enjoying a cold beer on the dock or joining their friends for happy hour.
Tammie was pre-deceased by her parents Jack and June, father in law Jim and sadly leaves behind her Husband Tom, mother in law Norma, son James and daughter-in- law Dianna, two beautiful granddaughters Jayde and Kathryn along with her 3 sisters Debby, Dot and Trudy (Paul). She will also be missed terribly by the Dunnett, Young and Mantell families, and her many cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.
Respecting Tammie’s wishes, there will be no service or visitation, rather a celebration of life which will be arranged by Tom and family with information to follow soon. It would mean a lot to the family if you could please take the time to share your thoughts and memories of Tammie in her tribute book.
