It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Patricia “Tish” “Patsy” MacDonald, age 88, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in North Sydney on March 14, 1935, Patsy was the daughter of the late Angus and Eugenia (Lockman) Morrison. She was a graduate of St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing. She worked in Brantford, Ontario for a few years and then returned to Dalhousie University for her nursing degree. She came back to St. Elizabeth Hospital to teach nursing and later became Head Nurse in Pediatrics at Northside General Hospital for thirty years prior to her retirement. One of her favorite things to do especially in her retirement was shopping. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in North Sydney.
Patsy is survived by her son Cyril (Susan) MacDonald, and grandchildren Hannah, Keegan and Gillian, her sister Marie Buffett, nieces and nephews Lisa, Dave, Les, Chris, Anne Marie, Roland, Betty and numerous MacDonald nieces and nephews.
Beside her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Cyril MacDonald, also by her siblings Angus, William and Jean Morrison, her brother-in-law Roland Buffett, sisters and brothers-in-law Catherine Serroul, Tina Harris, Edward, Lloyd, Raymond, Collin and Russell MacDonald, Charlie and Paul Sampson.
Visitation for Patsy will be held from 12-2 p.m. on Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
