Obituary
ATWOOD, David Bruce – 90, of Clark’s Harbour, passed away at Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point, with his loving family by his side, on November 23, 2023. Born February 25, 1933, at Clark’s Harbour, he was a son of the late Alliston Grant and Susan Maude (Swim) Atwood. David was a very accomplished man. He not only ran a gas station, a restaurant (along with his wife, Helen), and a taxi service before he became a boat builder; he also served for 20 plus years in the fire department as a member and fire chief. He was also on town council and the school board. David could do anything and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen Mildred (Stewart) Atwood; children, Deborah L. Atwood, Steven D. (Teresa) Atwood; grandchildren, Brandi-Lee (Nicholas) Penney, Tamara (Jonathan) Atwood, Steven “Matthew” Atwood; great-grandchildren, Chloe Grace, Brayden Nicholas, and William David. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Melba Katherine Atwood, Evelyn Gwendolyn Atwood, Clifford Alliston Atwood, Mary Lascelles Atwood, Victor Calvin Atwood, Roselyn Faye Millicent Atwood, Margaret Emma Atwood, Valetta Joan Marie, Isadora Natalie Atwood, Loran Edward Atwood, and Richard Philip Atwood. There will be a funeral service held, Monday, November 27, 2023, at the H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, at 2 pm, with Rev Vince Robertson officiating. Interment to follow in the Oakvale Cemetery, Clark’s Harbour. Memorial donations in his name may be made to a charity of choice.
