In loving memory of Mary Nowak who passed on November 22, 2023 at the Elizebeth Center at the age of 101 years. Wife of the late Stanley Nowak. Daughter of the late John and late Amelia (née Kura) Rosastik. Beloved mother of Gregory (Francis) and Elaine Vezeau (Denis). Predeceased by her daughter Christine Eady (Glen). Proud grandmother of Betty (Ben), Ben, Derek (Valerie), Helena (Derek), Angela (Marty), Kayla (Brenan), Tyler (Sarah) and Zachary (Hailey). Great-grandmother of Mathew, Katie, Reilly, Merrick, Dieter, Levi, Piper, Hannah, Elizabeth, Ian, Leah, Lexa, Jaxen, Clara, Brayden, Reilly, Blair, Gavin, Thomas, Chelsey, Hazel, and two great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by sisters Irene Timko (John) and Agnes Abele (John), predeceased brothers Joe (Helen predeceased) and John (Claire predeceased) , sister-in-law Bernice (Kaz predeceased), brother-in-law Edward and many nieces and nephew. Many thanks to the nurses and PSW’s who have helped Mary, especially Doris, Katie and Kelly. After growing up in Cape Breton, Mary moved to Toronto to go to Shaw Business School. She then worked for insurance companies in Toronto then Montreal. At that time she met her future husband Stan, during the war while on vacation in Sydney. After Stan finished university, they moved to Iroquois Falls, then Falconbridge, and finally Onaping, where Mary lived for the next 66 years. Mary was involved in the community all her life. She was a founding member of the Onaping Art Club, was member of the CWL, and Curling Club. She enjoyed downhill and cross country skiing, blueberry picking and especially fishing. She also enjoyed going to camp at Kukagami Lake with her family. Most of all, her passion was her art. Some of her works of art can be found at St Bartholemew’s Church above the altar and at the Royal Canadian Legion. She taught many students over her lifetime. Mary also worked as a real estate agent for ten years. Mary was a caring and compassionate person who enjoyed life to the fullest. Mary was the matriarch of the family and will be missed by all. The family will receive family and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 4691 RR 15, Chelmsford, Monday, November 27, 2023, from 9 to 11 a.m. A chapel service will follow at 11 a.m. Donations by cheque or online to Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
