It is with heavy hearts we announce that after a long and happy life dedicated to her family and friends, Marilyn passed away on November 16, 2023 at the age of 85.
She is now reunited with her late husband and soulmate, John (2022) with whom she spent 68 years of blissful marriage. Loving and devoted mom of Brian (Carol) and Bob (Ellen). Proud grandma of Cassandra, Gwynne, Mitchell, and Mackenzie. Predeceased by her parents Margaret and Andrew Lobzun and parents-in-law John and Rose Attenborough. Devoted sister of Dick (Kenah, the late Grace), late Jim (late Barb), late Diane (Ian), Pat (Jim), Barb (Burt), Carol Ann, Kym, Andrea, and Kevin (Laurie). Cherished sister-in-law of the late Artie, Gene, Doug (Joy), late Shirley, late Ray (Betty), Irene, Bonnie (Dave), and Bill (Sandy). She will also be dearly missed by her Aunt Rita and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.
Marilyn was a devoted wife to John. They were the ultimate team who always had an open door. Together they were generous with their time and love for all family and friends. In later years, they enjoyed travelling and making new and lasting friendships along the way.
Marilyn was a wonderful baker. She took great pride in designing wedding, shower, and birthday cakes for friends and family. Everyone who knew her will remember her delicious treats. She passed on that love of baking to her granddaughters, who cherish those memories and recipes they made with her.
You couldn’t talk about Marilyn without mentioning the special bond she shared with Cassandra and Gwynne. They were her pride and joy. The treasured time they spent together and the memories made will live on in their hearts and give them strength to move forward.
A special thank you to the staff at Huron Lodge in the Willow residence for their care and compassion during Marilyn’s short stay with them.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marilyn may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Windsor Goodfellows.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 2 – 5 pm at Families First Funeral Home in South Windsor. Visiting will continue on Monday, November 20, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Victoria Memorial Gardens.
