Nancy Lee MacDonald
1959 – 2023
It is with deep sadness that the family of Nancy Lee MacDonald announces her passing on November 2, 2023 at 64 years of age. Nancy exhaled her last soft breath while holding her children’s hands on her failing body and words of love in her ears, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Cancer may have been the beast that ultimately took Nancy from us far too soon but her family and friends like to believe she died of a broken heart. Nancy is finally at peace and reunited with the love of her life, Scott.
Born in Tillsonburg on June 8, 1959, to Lillian and the late Frank Mueller, Nancy led a life filled with dedication and ceaseless love for her family and community. She was the beloved wife of the late Scott MacDonald, who predeceased her in 2021. Their love story was one of enduring partnership and shared adventures. Nancy was the proud and loving mother to Randy (Melanie) Kennedy, Amanda (Tremain) Wheatley and Brad (Chantelle) MacDonald. She was also the cherished Grama to Kaitlin, Olivia and Carly Kennedy, Hazel Kennedy, Thomas and Zoe Wheatley, Avery and Grayson MacDonald.
In addition to her mother, children and grandchildren, Nancy will be deeply missed by her brother Frank (Cheryl) Mueller, her sister Linda (John) Onaitis as well as mother and father-in-law Rae Gately and Robert MacDonald, brothers and sisters-in-law Curt (Cathy) MacDonald, Randy (Linda) MacDonald and Nikki Smith, along with many nieces and nephews and extended family. Nancy was a dedicated employee at Wellmaster Pipe and Supply for more than 30 years. Her commitment to her work was as steadfast as her commitment to her family. She was respected and appreciated by her colleagues for her unwavering dedication and integrity.
Passionate about her community, Nancy was a past president and active and respected member of the Kinette Club of Tillsonburg. Nancy’s impact within her club and community was far reaching, she launched Coats for Kids, co-chaired the annual Santa Breakfast, was a committee member for the Princess Ball, and was the Deputy Governor of Zone F in 2003- 2004. She was known for her dramatic and frequent eye rolls, quick wit, willingness to work and her infectious laugh. Nancy had a zest for life, spending treasured moments with her family, creating memories and stories that will be retold for years to come. Nancy loved her grandchildren fiercely and was always up for watching a hockey or ringette game, dance recital, soccer or lacrosse game, she even enjoyed trying to learn Tik Tok dances. She loved traveling with Scott, her family and friends. These trips brought her immense joy and left her with a treasure trove of stories and experiences that she loved to share with her loved ones.
As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate a life lived to its fullest, marked by fierce love and loyalty, kindness, inherent generosity, and an indomitable spirit. Nancy Lee MacDonald, a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend, will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all those she touched. It was an honor to be known and loved by Nancy.
Cremation has taken place. The family will be having a private graveside service at the Tillsonburg Cemetery, and details about a Celebration of Life will be shared with family and friends.
