1926-2023
Muriel Elizabeth Hanson, 97, of Fundy Royal Manor,
Hillsboorugh passed away on November 1st, 2023 at the
home with her family by her side. Muriel was born
in Demoiselle Creek on January 14, 1926 the daughter of Liffie and
Elizabeth (Milton) Henwood.
Muriel who took great pride in raising her
family. Muriel met and married her husband Lloyd
and together they raised their family with love.
She worked at the Peter Pan Restaurant first as a waitress
then moved up to Supervisor. She was a member of
the Valley Baptist Church and was a member of the
Hillsborough Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch # 32.
Muriel had a great attitude about life and never let
anything get her down, she dealt with life head on and with
great determination. She loved to laugh and have a good
time, she had many good friends over the years and they had a
lot of fun together. She had a special place in her heart
for all her treasured grandchildren,great grandchildren and
great-great grandchildren. She felt blessed to have her
family’s support as they were always there for her and it seems
appropriate as she was always there for them. She has left the family
and her friends with so many wonderful memories to share and would
want you to remember the new life she is beginning and not the one she
has ended. Until we meet again. «Wherever a
beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful
memories.»
She will be deeply missed by her children, Gail Milton of
Hillsborough, John Mariboe of Oregon, USA, Gary Hanson (Heather) of
Curryville, Brenda McCoubrey (Terry) of Stoney Creek, James
Hanson (Beth) of Stoney Creek and Cheryl Glendenning (Arnold) of
Shepody; her many treasured grandchildren, great grandchildren and
great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Hanson of
Hillsborough; sisters, Marjorie Keirstead of Amherst and Lorena
Phillips of Lower Coverdale. She will also be missed by
several nieces and nephews and by her family at Fundy Royal
Manor.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lloyd
Hanson; daughter Nancy; son, David Hanson; son-in-law, Donald Milton;
grandson, Danny; great grandchildren, Karen Clark and
Joedin Leger; brothers, Henry (Muriel), Richard (Lilly),
Ottis (Marie), Merton (Geraldine) and Clayton (Jane); brothers-in-law,
Sandy Phillips and Bob Keirstead.
The family would like to say a very special thank you to
the staff and residents of Fundy Royal Manor. The care and
the way she was treated was amazing and we never had to worry about
her. She loved you all and we cannot thank you enough for
the excellent care and kindness shown to not only our mom but our
whole family.
Honouring Muriel’s own wishes there will be no
visitation. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held
at the Grey’s Island Cemetery, Hillsborough with Rev. Dean MacDonald
officiating.
Donations to the Grey’s Island Cemetery, Valley
Baptist Church or memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated
by the family.
