Predeceased by her beloved husband of 37 years, Robert (Bob) M. McKay, sisters Dorothy (Johnny), Stella (Alan) and brothers, Charlie (Marion) and Donald. Survived by daughters Marianne (Mike Horne), Jean (Wayne George) and Barb, grandsons Paul George (Édith), Ross George and Patrick Horne as well as many Bigelow, Wild, Thompson and McKay nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews and sister-in-law Joan Thompson.
Iz was born and raised in Silton, Saskatchewan, a town of 100 people, a close prairie community.
When she moved to the big city of Regina, she met and married Bob. They lived in Regina, then Calgary, before settling in Victoria in 1962. Those that knew Iz, realized that she loved life in Victoria, but at heart remained a prairie girl.
Iz was the life of the party and the matriarch of the Thompson family. She enjoyed keeping busy puttering in her garden, entertaining and baking for close friends, neighbours, and family.
Iz and Bob lived on Falkland Place for 27 years, where they raised their daughters, before moving to Gonzales Avenue 31 years ago. The neighbours in both places became important parts of her life and she theirs.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Dr. Dara Behroozi. His expertise, support and devotion to Isabelle’s health was extraordinary.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Victoria Golf Club on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Canadian Red Cross and the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation.
