Obituary
ANDERSON, Helen Maria (Nee Cinjee) passed away on Sunday October 15th, 2023 at PRHC. Helen was one of four children born to John and Maria (deceased) on November 5th, 1943 in Delft, Holland. She leaves behind her sisters, Rita Jansen (deceased Dec 2013) (Brother-in-law Peter), Marion Walker (Michael Simmonds) and Elsje Van Allen (Joseph).
Mom will be dearly, emotionally, and forever missed by her children, Rhonda Sage (Kevin), Darrin Anderson (Tanya), and Chad Anderson (Tammy). She was a great, fun, and caring Grandmother to Austin (Hayley), Meredith, Ashli (deceased Feb 2022), Kennie, Jake (Kaitlyn), Taylor, Owen, Hailey (Logan), and Charlie. Mom will also be missed by her 8 great grandchildren, Krya, Jordan, Cameron, Lynley, Sophia, Oliver, Charleigh, and Poppy Rose. Many nieces and nephews will also be missed as Mom enjoyed everyone she encountered.
Mom came to Canada when she was nine years old travelling by ship from Holland. This story she would always tell and the fun she had while travelling at sea. Upon arrival, her family settled in Hastings County but made Peterborough their final home. Mom enjoyed all sports while attending school and had to be the best at every sport she played but her main passion was baseball. When Mom started working at Westclox in Peterborough at the age of 16, she joined their baseball team. She continued her working career at Quaker Oats/Pepsico until she retired in June 2008.
Family and friends are welcome to attend her graveside service on Saturday November 4th at Rosemount Memorial Gardens starting @ 10:30. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Diabetes Canada. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com.
