1921 – 2023
Our mother was a unique and remarkable woman. She was the daughter of Herbert D. Smith and Willena Smith (nee Eadie), from Clydesdale, Antigonish, N.S., being the youngest of 10 children: Jessie, Fred, Ernest, Bert, Prescott, Clifford, Herold, Arthur and Ian – all deceased. Married to Dr. James H. Williams (a Presbyterian minister – Barney’s River) and became the mother of Carol (Keith), Ian-deceased (Louise), James Jr. and Wayne. Mom lived with Dad in Tatamagouche, N.S., Scotsburn, N.S., Sault Ste. Marie, ON. and Toronto, ON. Highly respected and admired by many; nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and members of aforementioned congregations. She was multi-talented: singer, writer, speaker, leader (church groups), actress (church plays), seamstress, awesome gardener, superb hostess and had culinary skills which everyone appreciated. All of these qualities were seen at different times and occasions in the 3 generations of her family. Up to the very end, she fought the good fight and finished her journey very quietly. A “thank you” to the caring and kind doctors and nurses at Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital.
Mom lived her last nine years as a resident in a Revera Retirement Home at North York, Ontario. Her family wishes to thank the entire staff for the constant and compassionate care and attention she received while being there.
Cremation has already taken place. Her final resting place will be beside our father in Glen Bard Cemetery, James River, Nova Scotia, taking place in June 2024.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Glenview Presbyterian Church, 1 Glenview Ave., Toronto, Ontario. M4R 1P5 or office@glenviewchurch.ca
