Jason Brian Bernard – 47, Sipekne’katik
First Nation. It is with heavy hearts that we share that our brother,
Jason Brian Bernard, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 24,
2023, at his home in Millbrook First Nation.
Born in Truro, he was the youngest and only son of the late
Nora Bernard and Brian Higgins. Jason was also the youngest brother to
the MacLeod girls. Jason will always be remembered for his incredible
gentle heart, his humour and his laugh.
He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Jessie; long-time
special friend, Francine; sisters; nieces; nephews; Godchildren; his
dog, Willow; many other extended family and friends. Along with his
parents, he was predeceased by his eldest sister,
Juanita.
We wish to thank Shirley Francis of Sipekne’katik
for her ongoing love and support, staff of Millbrook Band and Health
Centre, Native Council of Nova Scotia, staff of QEII Hospital and
Colchester East Hants Health Centre and a special thank you to Dr.
Rowe, Dr. Blois, Dr. Smith, VON and Palliative Care for their
kindness, compassion and care. The family would like to
extend their appreciation and gratitude to Larry Michael and his
family for their support, kindness and love.
The Celebration of Life for Jason will be held starting at 11
a.m., Wednesday, September 27, 2023 until 11 a.m., Thursday, September
28, 2023, at 876 Willow Street, Millbrook First Nation. Cremation will
follow. The family has organized an online Salite’ (auction)
to help with funeral expenses; any and all donations are greatly
appreciated.
