It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Dimitrios “Jim” Roupas on Thursday September 21, 2023 at the age of 92.
Predeceased and reunited with his beloved wife Asimina. Loving father to Maria (George) Vlachopoulos, Taso (Donna) Roupas, Fotoula (Dean) Santarossa and Joanna (Giancarlo) Mardegan. Beloved Papou to Dimitri, Victoria, Alexander, Julianna, Adam, Marina and Mario.
Jim emigrated from Greece to Canada when he was 25 years old. With hard work, dedication and determination, he became the proud owner of a few different restaurants in his lifetime. Jim, along with his wife Asimina, were most proud of their well-known pizzeria, Arcata.
Jim loved chatting with his customers. He was the type of person who spoke with anyone, from all walks of life. He was always thrilled when he received requests to ship his pizza abroad. Jim worked very hard to provide for his family. His children will be eternally grateful for everything he did for them. We are left with the many funny sayings Jimmy was known for, along with a trove of wonderful memories.
To our father and angel mother; no words can express to you how lucky we were to have such wonderful parents. We will hold you both in our hearts forever. Until we are all reunited again. We love you beyond words.
A special thank you to Riverside Place for the care they provided our father. A special thank you to Talida from AHH’s and to Anita. Our father truly enjoyed the quality time you spent visiting him.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Visiting will be Monday September 25, 2023 from 3-5 & 7-9 pm with Thrice Holy Hymn service at 8 pm. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday September 26, at 10:15 am from Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor 519-969-5841 to Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church for funeral service at 11 am. Interment Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
