It is with great sadness that we share that Scott Allan Reed died suddenly on January14, 2023. He was with Marnie (Gold), his long-time partner at his “happy place”, the cottage.
Scott was born November 8, 1963, in Lethbridge, Alberta. Scott was predeceased by his parents Victor (Vic) and Ruth (nee Barnes) Reed, and nephew Danton Johnson. The youngest of four children, he is survived by his sisters Janine (Austin), Carol (Kelvin) and
brother Cameron (Claire). He was a loving father to Aidan and cherished uncle to Anna, Kristin, Alexander and Reed. He will also be sorely missed by Marnie’s children, Max and Ella.
Scott started school in Mississauga, but found his stride once the family moved to Ottawa. There he made lifelong friends who have remained an important part of his life. Scott graduated from Carleton University, obtained his securities license, and then entered the investment banking world in Toronto. He took a bit of a wander into the music industry, and then returned to Toronto where he built a successful career on Bay Street working in capital markets for Scotia bank among other investment banks.
An accomplished athlete, Scott excelled at lacrosse and hockey at the provincial level. His passion for hockey continued in the beer leagues in Toronto, where he enjoyed the game as well as the camaraderie of the sport. He liked nothing better than throwing darts, fishing, shooting hoops or hitting the golf range with his son.
One of the best things that happened to Scott was the arrival of his son Aidan. Friends and family celebrated with Scott and Lindsay with great joy. Aidan is a remarkable young man, of whom Scott was immensely proud and loved deeply.
In retirement, Scott and Marnie supported each other, and enjoyed time with their children and friends. Their cottage welcomed all.
Marnie and Scott’s family are hosting a celebration of Scott’s life on January 25, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Mount Pleasant Cemetery (Funeral Centre), 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Diabetes Canada or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
