Obituary of Michael (Mike) May
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael, at the age of 90, on Friday, Sept.8, 2023. Beloved husband of Rita May (nee Brunet) for 66 years. The doting son of his parents, the late Maria (Johrendt) and Michael May. Proud Father of Michael & Rosemarie May, Gary & Cari May and Karl May. Mike adored all of his grandchildren, and was always so excited to meet each of them and spend time with them. Loving grandfather to Derek May & Lara, Kenny & Candice May, Bryce May & Sydney Hand, Shawn and Kate May, Kyle & Heather May, Mandy Bechard, Cheri Dorey , Shayna Bechard & Marc-Alan Griffith. Michael was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Carson, Carter, Kaidan, Logan, Isla, Lumi, Ava, Desirae, Destinee, Deshawntae, De’Shaya. Great-great grandfather to Ellie. Dear brother to Cathy & Frank Bristow and Mary & Michael Broser (2012) and the late Maria May. Mike will also be missed by his best friend of over 50 years, Claude Klingbile .
Michael was very proud of his hometown where he was born on July 25, 1933 in Wermesch-Siebenburgen, Romania. He later emigrated to Windsor in 1954, bringing 1 sister and mother. During his life, Mike became a master Letterer and painter, enjoyed traveling with his family and friends and was an avid bowler. He will be remembered as a very kind-hearted, courteous man by everyone he met.Thank you to the caring staff of the Palliative Program at the Dr. Y. Emara Centre, Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare.
Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel (South Chapel), 3048 Dougall Avenue (519-253-7236) on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Victoria Memorial Gardens. If so desired, donations may be made to Hospice of Windsor-Es County or Transition to Betterness (T2B).
