It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of a dear Father, Grandfather, Brother and Friend, Maurice Joseph McCarthy of Terrenceville. Maurice passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Burin on Saturday, September 9th, 2023, at the age of 90.
Maurice was predeceased by his parents, Patrick John & Bridget Ellen; beloved wife, Adela; sons, Michael and Pat; daughter-in-law, Helena; sister, Mary Jane; four step-sisters, two sisters-in-law.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his daughters, Mary (Ray), Jenny (Charles), Frances (Mike), Madonna (Kevin), Cathy (Edward) and Joan (Andy); sons, Maurice Jr, Albert, Kevin, Jimmy and Pierce (Verna); special friends, Jimmy Hartson, Billy Hickey, Jerry Collier and Walt Frost; plus a large circle of family and friends.
Maurice was known as a hard working man who provided a lifetime of giving and never expected anything in return. His kind heart grew bigger with the people who knew him. He was a man of steel and fought to the bitter end.
The family would like to send a huge thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre who took special care of our Dad. Your compassion and kindness will never be forgotten. God Bless you all.
The McCarthy Family will be accepting visitors at Peninsula Funeral Home, Creston South on
Monday, September 11th
1:00pm to 7:00pm
Funeral Service will take place at Peninsula Funeral Home, Creston South on Tuesday, September 12th, 2023 at 1:00pm.
Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s RC Cemetery, Terrenceville.
In Maurice’s memory, in-lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
