Obituary
God has gained another angel. We are sad to announce that Verna Jeanne McArthur, common-law wife and soul mate of twenty years to Mark Beaney, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound.
Verna was born in Southampton on November 30th, 1957. She is survived by her two sisters, Linda (Wayne) Spencer of Sherwood Park, Alberta, and Ann (Murray) Maas of Port Elgin, sister-in-law Jo McArthur, her loved nieces and nephews, and her very cherished kitty, Razzi. Predeceased by her parents, Harold and Margaret McArthur, and her brother Ron McArthur. She was also cherished and will be missed by her mother-in-law, Eleanor Beaney, her brother-in-law Ken (Brenda) Beaney, sister-in-law, Sharon (Kim) Gobert, sister-in-law Kerry and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by father-in-law, Wayne Beaney and brother-in-law, Rick Beaney.
Verna grew up on a farm in Arran Township. She attended Saugeen District High School in Port Elgin and graduated from Georgian College in Owen Sound in an Office Administration program. Verna was a kind and beautiful soul. A quiet, thoughtful, caring person, who loved reading, writing, music, nature and most of all her family. She was a warrior for animal rights and causes close to her heart. Her curiosity and love of reading lead to many thought provoking points of view and stimulating conversation!
Family and friends are invited to attend either of the come and go celebrations of Verna’s life, with Mark’s family on Saturday, September 9th from 2:00pm – 5:00pm at 1124 10th Ave. East, Owen Sound.
