Obituary
PERRY (SCOTT) Lillian Odessa, 82, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2023, at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital surrounded by loving family and friends. She was born in Barrington on Riverhead Road on April 20, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Wilmont Scott and Ella Odessa (Lamrock) Scott.
Lillian’s passions were her family, community, and heritage. She spent her days admiring the natural beauty of the Barrington River and reminiscing about times well spent with loved ones. Lillian was an active member of the Cape Sable Historical Society, and a passionate member and advocate for the Wesley United Church (and later Wesley Heritage Community Centre). When she wasn’t busy researching and writing her books and presentations, she could be found surviving the family tradition of lumberjack sports and heritage, by volunteering with the Nova Scotia Guides Association. Lillian had an inquisitive and creative mind and spirit; she was always fascinated to learn something new. Plants and wildlife were another passion, as well as bird watching across the Atlantic provinces. She inspired many people through many different aspects of her life; from shaping young minds during her days as a schoolteacher, to her various volunteer positions, and finally as a loving, kind, and compassionate wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered fondly and with great admiration and respect.
Lillian was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Ella Scott; Brothers Everett Scott and Rene Scott; and her Grandson known as Baby Perry. She is survived by her loving husband, Mervyn Perry; Children Alan (Sarah) Perry, and Elaine Perry; Sisters Barbara Bent, Audrey Guild, Carol Wilson, Patricia Hudson, and Ruth MacLeod; Brothers Stanley (Betty) Scott, Fred (Trudy) Scott and Phil Scott; Grandchildren Allie Perry (Michael Inder), Kate Perry (Max Lefcowitz), Emma Perry, Grace Perry (Dominic Greer), Olivia Perry and Elizabeth Perry; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at the Wesley Heritage Community Centre on August 31, 2023, from 7-9 pm. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at the Wesley Heritage Community Centre on September 1, 2023, at 11 am, with officiating clergy reverend Brenda McCurdy. A burial ceremony will be held at the Riverdale Cemetery at a later date. We ask for family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wesley Heritage Community Association or Cancer Society.
