In Loving Memory of Massimo “Max” Palazzi
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Max Palazzi. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Max left this world peacefully on August 22nd, 2023, in his home surrounded by the love of his entire family.
Max was a remarkable man who touched the lives of all who knew him. He was a caring husband, loving and devoted father and nonno, cherished zio and a friend to so many.
Max leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience. Dear husband of Susan, Babbo to Leana and Jim Wawrow, Paolo and Nicole Palazzi and Erica Palazzi. Loving Nonno to Emma, Holly, Jillian Wawrow, Max, Zuri and Jordan Palazzi.
Max was a son to Federico and Adele Palazzi, brother to Elio and Edda, Paolo and Betty, Marco and Elena, and Marisa and Rudy Leitzinger. Max will also be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins in Canada and Italy, and many friends.
Max was a man of integrity and hard work. He dedicated his life to providing for his family and ensuring their happiness. As a father and nonno, he was a constant source of support, guidance, and unconditional love.
Max was born in Fano, Italy – a place he loved and talked about often.
After moving to Windsor, Max started his career in his brothers’ Paolo and Marco’s business Palazzi Carpet and Tile in 1963. He then decided to independently open his own successful company, Palazzi Rugs. He was a savvy business man who knew how to sell you a rug!
He met his wife Susan at a dance and they fell in love. They married in 1970 and began their family. Max was an amazing Babbo and nonno, who always put his children and grandchildren first and loved them endlessly.
His biggest joy in life was his family. He loved family get-togethers, playing cards, dropping off timbits to the grandchildren and watching his Toronto Maple Leafs or Blue Jays together. Max took great pride in seeing the success of his children and grandchildren with school and sports. Being an avid sports fan, he was always at the kids’ games cheering them on.
Max will be remembered for his sense of humor, sarcasm, and lack of a “filter” – he had us laughing until the very end!
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 27th from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Families First South Windsor. Visitation will continue on Monday, August 28th from 11:00 am until a Celebration of Life at 12:00 pm.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all those who have offered their condolences and support during his courageous battle. Many thanks to his doctors, nurses, and his friend and caregiver, Marisa. Your love and kindness have provided us with strength and comfort.
