Having said goodbye to family and loved ones, Gloria passed peacefully at Northumberland Hills Hospital late Monday evening, August 21, 2023in her 96th year.
Beloved wife of Charles Edgar Hill for 61 years (Predeceased).
Gloria’s family was everything to her and she was loved dearly.
Proud mother to Edward (Emilie), Robert (Deborah) and Terry (Jackie).
Loving grandmother to Angela, Scott (Melissa), Amanda and Robyn (Brandon) and great-grandmother to Peyton, May, Charlie, Ella, and Hudson and extended family of Ed (Emilie), Robert (Deborah).
Caring sister to brother Joe (Helen predeceased), sister Faye (Bob predeceased), brother Don (Linda), she is preceded in death by brother David (Leona/Ivy), brother Bob (Rose), sister Ella (Jim)
She will be missed by all.
Gloria always enjoyed being with family and her contagious laugh was enjoyed by everyone. Mom savoured the years spent at the cottage entertaining numerous visitors, hosting the family golf tournament, and singing songs with the grand kids by the camp fire. She spent many winters in their place in Florida highlighted by card games, park dances, social events, and shuffling.
It did not take long after moving into the James Club / Palisades Garden for her to make friends, in particular Mary, Marie, and Margaret. She was loved by the awesome staff that took good care of her. Nurses, PSWs, the dining team, all staff throughout and Inga (who she adored), ensured she was able to participate in regular daily activities.
The Home Instead team, in particular Betty her prime care giver, are recognized for allowing her to live her final years with dignity.
We would like to give special recognition to niece Heather and daughters, Brooke and Lilly her great nieces. Since the outbreak of Covid they have found time every Tuesday night to call and sing to her. It is something she looked forward to every week.
The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and nurses from Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg who provided exemplary care and support.
Donations in memory of Gloria may be made to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.
In lieu of a visitation/service a celebration of life will happen in the near future.
