Colleen Marie (O’Rourke) McGregor was born on November 23rd 1967, with the most beautiful red hair and the sweetest freckles. Colleen is survived by her parents, June & Michael O’Rourke, her siblings, Maureen, Tim & John, her loving husband Bryce and beloved five children, Jackson, Olivia, Trey, Ella & Georgia. Colleen is also survived by her faithful dog, Hattie, who says she is the best dog mom a girl could ask for.
Though Colleen’s life was taken far too soon, her 55 years were filled with nothing but adventure. She was a deeply determined and dedicated person, who achieved everything she put her mind to. Colleen spent her mid-20s making a career out of her passions, working at ski hills and fitness clubs. Colleen spent the final 3 decades of her life being the most extraordinary mother and wife. Each morning she exhibited one of her many talents by baking her children a treat to take to school. This baking took place only after she had returned from her 5am run of course, as one of Colleen’s many hobbies was training for half-marathons. In addition to being a great runner, Colleen always kicked Bryce’s butt at mountain biking (and she would tell you at skiing too).
Colleen showed her deep love for her children by being ever present; spending countless hours volunteering at their school and being their biggest cheerleader for all of their various sports. Between marathon training, baking, volunteering and cheerleading, Colleen dedicated much of her time to renovating several fixer uppers, transforming houses into homes with her special touch. Colleen would be the first to tell you that she is the handiest McGregor when it comes to tools. The way Colleen designed and tended to her gardens at each of these houses are one of the most special passions she had.
Colleen’s family will spend each day of the rest of their lives remembering her infectious laugh and playful attitude; while feeling deep gratitude for the privilege that has been loving, and being loved by Colleen McGregor.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 40 Russell Street East, Lindsay on Monday, August 28th at 11:00am.
